Reality Show Personality is Coming to Dothan

Dr. Sherry Blake, We TV’s Braxton Family Values personality, Essence magazine columnist to be featured speaker at 2013 Chasity D. Barnes Memorial Scholarship Dinner & Silent Auction

Dothan, Ala.– The Chasity D. Barnes Memorial Scholarship Dinner& Silent Auction will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 6 p.m. at Sterling Event Services, 795 Ross Clark Circle, Dothan, Ala. A scholarship will be awarded to a local high school senior in memory of Chasity D. Barnes of Webb, Ala. who passed away in 2009 at the age of 27.

Clinical psychologist Dr. Sherry Blake will be on hand for the event. "Dr. Sherry", as she’s known by viewers of We TV’s "Braxton Family Values" - a reality show about Grammy-award winning singer Toni Braxton and her sisters, will be the featured speaker. Dr. Sherry is also a columnist for Essence magazine. She has also appeared as an expert on several radio and TV shows including the Katie Couric Show. Other featured guests include Christian hip-hop artists Life Through C.O.L.O.R.S. from Montgomery, Ala. and Tonya Terry, news anchor, also from Montgomery, Ala.

Tickets are $30 each and are required to enter.

About Chasity

Chasity was 27-year-old when she passed away from a blood clot after being diagnosed with cancer. She was a graduate of Troy University, where she had obtained her Bachelor’s and MBA. She worked in the marketing department at Southeast Alabama Medical Center and later in the admissions office of Troy University.

About the Scholarship

The scholarship is made possible through donations from friends and family. A scholarship has been awarded each year since Chasity’s death. Donations towards the scholarship fund are being taken online at chasitybarnes.org. The scholarship is administered by E.L.E.T.E. (Enlightened Ladies Empowering Through Education) Professional Women’s Club in Dothan of which Chasity was a member.
