DOTHAN: Remember Me!!!
Today I was in Office Max. As I was walking in the store I realized that parents were buying "back to school supplies. And the store was crowded.
As I walked in the store I started dreaming back to my days of school. While this article will not mean something to everyone, I started singing the song " Remember Me - Oh Dear Lord Remember Me " to myself.
Who remembers - Remember Me?
Back in the years our parents bought our school supplies from Bill Buchanan Church and School Supply on Montgomery Highway. Bill and Chrysta Buchanan had a store in the 1700 block of Montgomery Highway. That was the place.
Bill Buchanan was a Minister of Music also. He served in many area churches as Minister of Music, during revivals or Interiem Minister of Music. He was known for a song he did with the choir back up. That song was " Remember Me ".
Brother Bill, as he was known, would wheel around from the choir and sing the song as the choir was his back up - Remember Me Oh Dear Lord Remember Me...
The last time I remember hearing the song was at Calvary Baptist Church in Dothan.
My sister, Sandra Walden, found out what night they were doing the song and I joined her. Brother Bill whipped around, and with his unique way his mouth would be, Remember Me echoed through Calvery Baptist Church.
Today...Brother Bill if you read RSN from Heaven ( lol ), I remembered Remember Me.
Brother Bill served at Southside Baptist Church, Kinsey Baptist Church and others. Brother Bill passed away a number of years ago.
