DALE COUNTY: Tonight law enforcement responded to an alleged abduction of a mother and child in Clayhatchee. First reports were that a man driving a white Nissan Pathfinder had taken the mother and child from a home on East Main Street. The man was last seen heading towards Enterprise.
As more information was gathered it was reported the mother had been forced out of the vehicle and the man still had the child. Law Enforcement from Clayhatchee and Dale County Sheriff’s Office responded.
A BOLO was issued and Enterprise Police located the male and the call was changed to a child custody issue, not an abduction like first reported.
The male was the father of the child and he had legal custody of the child, the mother is reported to have picked up the child from school without permission and the father went with his mother and picked up the child. The Childs’s mother had not been abducted but had jumped into the vehicle and was made to get out.
In the end the child was located and is safe and sound with the legal parent. No charges have been file against the mother at this time, however the investigation continues into the matter.
