This has been bothering me and the time has come to get it off my chest. Today while traveling to Ozark/Dale County where a suspected stolen vehicle suspect hit three Sheriff cars, I kept thinking of Mobile County District Attorney comments.

The comments have nagged, nagged and nagged at me ever since I first heard them.

Now I realize that I am not very smart. But this has been bothering me to see if I am that stupid or is Bob Riley and John Tyson that stupid.

Just before the runoff for Alabama Governor, Bob Riley’s Mobile County District Attorney/Gambling Task Force Czar John Tyson was quoted making the following statement;

"The governor wants me to talk about the whole issue. He thinks it’s very, very important, and I couldn’t agree more," he said. "I think it’s the most dangerous issue facing the state of Alabama -- and that would include the oil crisis."

Recently in Houston County a member of a Mexican Drug Cartel met in a Dothan ( Houston County ) restaurant where deals were made to purchase 50 AK-47 Assault Rifles, hand grenades and bullet proof vests.

Just last week members of the Dothan Police and Houston County Sheriff Vice and Intelligence Officers seized 7 guns, dope and money. This past week a Dothan Police Officer had to use deadly physical force to protect his safety, other officer’s safety and the public.

Several weeks ago members of the U.S. Marshall Task Force had to use deadly physical force in making an arrest in Eufaula Alabama.

Just last week in Dothan officers were forced to use deadly physical force in effectuating arrests on drugs and protecting the officers and public.

Several weeks ago within two football fields of my house, an alleged member of the Mexican drug cartel was the subject of an all day man hunt with helicopters and dogs. He was not apprehended.

In Mobile County where John Tyson plays part time District Attorney, a 23 year old Engineer student was shot in the head. Four people are now in jail for capital murder.

Yet Bob Riley and John Tyson are playing around this state, with body guards, airplanes and helicopters, being big shots telling the people of this state a stupid lie…"The governor wants me to talk about the whole issue. He thinks it’s very, very important, and I couldn’t agree more," he said. "I think it’s the most dangerous issue facing the state of Alabama -- and that would include the oil crisis."

They think electronic bingo is the most dangerous issue facing the state of Alabama. The send over 130 Alabama State Troopers to raid Country Crossings in Dothan and more than that to Victoryland in Montgomery.

They claim, we did not close Country crossings when we had 130 Trooper cars drive to the front door. We did not close them when we had Alabama State Troopers sit across the street on surveillance and major bucks per hour. Oh, they closed voluntarily.

Yet, in John Tyson county where he has abandoned his duties as District Attorney people are being killed. A young 23 year engineer had his life taken by a gunshot to the head. Yet John Tyson is flying around Alabama with, what is in my opionion a false claim.

FOLKS…

Mexican Drug Cartel meeting in Dothan, 2 blocks from a medium size Baptist Church, 7 blocks from a Dothan Elementary School, 9 blocks from a baptist church that has over 1,000 members on Sunday.

The Mexican drug cartel wants 50 AK-47 assault rifles, hankernads, bullet proof vests.

Call me stupid…but playing electronic bingo IS NOT the most dangerous issue facing the state of Alabama,

In Jackson County Florida, a Sheriff’s wife was ambushed as she arrived at home,  a deputy was ambushed going to their aid. The gunman were killed by deputies arriving.

In Dothan two officers shot when they simply walked into a convience store.

In Henry County, a Headland Police Officer was killed in the line of duty, leaving a wife and a child. A Henry County Deputy lost some of his eyesight and has caused him several issues and no work. All the result of a gunman.

In Cowarts a man working a store was shot and robbed. His offense was -  making a living.

In Dothan a lady was working in an antique store and was murdered while she was working. No suspect in custody, no State Troopers assigned to help Dothan Police capture the suspect(s).

Examples could go on, and on….

But we come back to the statement of Riley and John…is "I think it’s the most dangerous issue facing the state of Alabama -- and that would include the oil crisis."

What do you think?

One of the three of us – STOKES or RILEY/TYSON have fell off the turnip truck and have gotten a case of being STUPID.

I will give you the stupid prize on this one Rickey. You can’t see past the money paid to you by McGregor. He has the deepest pockets and you have your hands in them. I remember you breaking the Houston County Commission/Bingo story wide open. You were much opposed to bingo. Then you made the statement, "I don’t have a problem with a clic as long as I am a part of it." Shortly afterwards, you made the change and then it was found out that MdGregor was paying you well for doing a "domestic" investigation. This speaks volumes for your character and shows that you are for sale to the highest bidder. Why don’t you report about you, (redacted) and others getting notification letters from the FBI regarding y’alls part in the Fed. Grand Jury Gambling Investigation? You can’t handle the truth.
rehobeth resident - Aug 03 2010 12: AM 13:22
way to go rickey. maybe some of the other idiots who are backing these idiots will see this and take it to heart. you sir are NOT the stupid one here!
JaxMomma09 - Jul 31 2010 12: AM 22:41
I cannot believe the number of comments on here putting down RS and RSN. If you do not like RS, why would you take the time to make a user account and why would you bother to make a comment? It is small minded people like that with nothing better to do than try and start more drama that need to be put on a boat and shipped some place else. I would rather have a casino full of video bingo machines next door to me or my kids school than have to worry about getting shot walking outside to check my mail. It is a sad day and time when the Gov. is more concerned with lining its pockets than with protecting its citizens. Two thumbs up for RS and RSN...I think you hit the nail on the head buddy.
JaxMomma09 - Jul 31 2010 12: AM 13:25
It is amazing to me that in the south this is even an issue. I am originally from Michigan and we have several casinos with not just video bingo but with actual slot machines as well. The revenue goes to support roads, schools, and gives families jobs. I think this is an outrage with the governor and his friends blocking something that could be good for the state. Why should we have to go spend our money in other states when we could be bettering our own? I am also outraged that they think this is the biggest threat to our state. I am more worried about the oil and the drug cartels then bingo. wake up Bob and others...we need someone in office who actually knows their rear end from a hole in the ground. I think it is Rile/Tyson who fell off the truck and got a case of stupid!!!
Stitch - Jul 31 2010 12: AM 12:45
I am amazed at many of the posters in here that have their heads in the sand when it comes to Riley and Tyson. People it is not just concerning the legality of electronic bingo. Riley and Tyson have superseded your Democratic vote here to continue their Mississippi led crusade. Your rights and mine are being violated and stripped away by those two. Houston County residents voted by Democratic process to make electronic bingo legal. Therefore it is LEGAL here!! Who knows what else Riley has done over his terms that we are just starting to find out now that he is on his way out of office. He claims the state has plenty of money so why are there as of yet millions of dollars in unpaid state returns still out? The list goes on and on.Education pro ration in a state with plenty of money????
Buford - Jul 31 2010 12: AM 09:25
There are a lot of stupid people in Alabama, if you look at a map od the United States you will see Fla. to the south they have lottery, Ga. to the east they have lottery, Miss. to the west they have lottery, then Tenn to the north they have lottery. They are getting money from Ala. because people from alabama want to play lottery, Alabama is surrounded by lottery so why can't we keep the money in Alabama, Simple reason, our governor is in the pockets of Mississippi, he's trying his best distroy the economy of Al. before he gets out of office. He sure would look good in Prison White!
William - Jul 30 2010 12: AM 17:17
Governor Riley will be gone soon. We will see what, if any, changes arein the future for us, regarding Bingo, Health, Employement, whatever. Will surely be an interesting election for GOVERNOR......
ma3stro247 - Jul 30 2010 12: AM 14:58
Hankernads or not, you're not stupid RSN. The governor and his circus will try to redirect attention and p1ss on fires until he can limp through his last term. It will be interesting to see if he sticks around after he's done. Keep a close eye on him and Tyson.
Voice of Reason - Jul 30 2010 12: AM 14:09
NurseT, you are obviously not seeing the entire picture. For Rickey to call Riley and Tyson stupid, is like the tasmanian devil looking in the mirror and trying to convince himself that he is beautiful. If one of the three is stupid then my vote would go for Stokes. Stokes would have fallen in love with Chief Powell if Powell would have kissed Rickey's like some of the other law enforcement officials do in this county. The way it seems if you give Stokes attention or money he will destroy whoever stands in your way. For Stokes it is all about who will give him the most money and attention. Then he will call you friend.
NurseT - Jul 30 2010 12: AM 12:46
Its quite obvious that Rickey is doing something right. Those of you that wanna send harsh comments sure did take the time to create a user account on this website and you obviously read the news on here. If you dont like Rickeys opinion, stick with your local TV/Radio for news updates. There are a lot of us that support what Rickey does for our community and it isnt just this website. SO, on this subject, what Rickey was talking about is that Riley/Tyson think that bingo is the most important issue with Alabama, when in fact it really isnt. That has nothing to do with calling our local police officials stupid. It simply means that if our governor and his buddies think that "bingo" is most important.....then nothing else in Alabama matters. AND THAT IS FAR BEYOND STUPID!!! Good job Rickey!
robertdothan - Jul 30 2010 12: AM 11:52
Come on people. You can not argue both sides of the fence. I don't think many of us here like the idea of those sanctuary cities for illegals, but we are one for gambling??? This is gambling flat out. I have no problem with gambling. I have been to Biloxi, and Vegas... got no problems with it. What you are doing is pushing aside the law because it is something that you want and maybe we need but it's still the law. We have to get the law changed. We can not pick and choose or we become a sanctuary city for it because we don't agree with it. It can't work this way or we become "them". Let's do it right guys. I want a Lottery. Our schools need it.

sladeb - Jul 30 2010 12: AM 11:41
good job Rickey, without you there would be hankernads all over Dothan and the surrounding areas, keep up the good work.
ole man - Jul 30 2010 12: AM 11:31
Why do some think electronic bingo is illegal in Alabama? This issue has not been tried in a court of law and rendered illegal. If in fact electronic bingo was illegal that small chain on the front door of Country Crossing Bingo Parlor would have been cut along time ago. The people in Alabama are trying to have their day in court but the ti tle holders will not hear of it and are willing to spend every dime of the tax payers money to see that this does not go to court. Wake the hell up and fight for your right to vote! Stupid is as stupid does, and that's all I got to say about that.
t-smith77 - Jul 30 2010 12: AM 10:59
We already have Mexican Cartel/Organized crime here. Why do we want Gambling/Casino st yle organized crime here? Look at the big picture Rickey, and take your mind off of the dollar signs bouncing around in your head. Look at the bloody history of Las Vegas and Atlantic city when people roll over and allow gambling to take over their communities. Then look at ALABAMA'S OWN HISTORY with Phenix City. A Sheriff and District Attorney committed MURDER to keep their greedy pockets filled. I think this IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION FACING ALABAMA, you don't want to be part of the crowd that allowed this to happen to our community when murders/corruption are commonplace. Decide now which Alabama you all would like your children and grandchildren to grow up in, because decisions made today affects them!
Voice of Reason - Jul 30 2010 12: AM 09:46
Rickey you continue to amaze with with your ignorance and stupidity. People are getting killed everyday all over this country and using your stupid way of thinking it is all the district attorney's fault. Using Rickey's way of thinking our Sheriff is STUPID because he let the member of the drug cartel come into our city and attempt to buy firearms. There are illegals walking all over this city and county everyday does that make the Sheriff STUPID. Using Rickey's way of thinking our Sheriff and Police Chief are STUPID because they did not stop any of the crimes he mentioned in his story. The truth is that those who pay Rickey to write these stories are the local gambling cartel. Oh but that is ok for them to be involved in illegal activities because they pay Rickey.
Butch - Jul 30 2010 12: AM 09:41
Rickey, you are not stupid. This is just another set of examples where goober riley and his thug tyson are wasting taxpayers money for their own agendas. I just read where Greene County is suing goober. Maybe we can do the same. He and tyson deserve to be in jail and made to pay all lost revenues and salaries. If goober and his henchman tyson were really concerned about Alabama they would turn their focus to the real problems instead of causing so many Alabmaians to be unemployed. They don't care. They have already lined their pockets. Lastly, we need to somehow prevent goober from his 100% pension.

Little Man Syndrome:A man, small in stature, who attempts to overcome the way he believes other people perceive him (as a diminuative character) by 1) attaching himself to authority figures, 2) trying to manipulate himself into positions of control, 3) migrating toward positions of leadership, and 4) having a fairly volatile temper.
aunt blabby - Jul 30 2010 12: AM 08:52
Rickey, you are NOT stupid! The governor and his henchmen are trying to "dumb down" the people who put his sorry behind in office. The most serious problem right now is NOT bingo, it is him and his delusional focus...the most serious problem right now is, in my opinion, illegal immigration...it is already coming into Dothan, with the meeting held recently to acquire "supplies" right there in plain sight. The only thing that will fix this is an educated VOTE and sorting thru the campaign rhetoric
2010 - Jul 30 2010 12: AM 08:34
I agree that is someone agrees with Ricky they are praised as a genius and if they disagree they must be stupid and corrupt. No issue highlights this attitude more than gambling. I do not agree that gambling is an emergency like the oil spill in the gulf (if Tyson actually said that) - however - the effects of gambling on society are likewise long term and can be devastating. The continuing theme that we should be able to do something in the Wiregrass that is illegal (slot machines) as ruled by the court - just because we want it or we like it - is one of the most uncivilized and absurd things I hear each day.
Ray Robinson - Jul 30 2010 12: AM 08:13
What I think is that if someone's opinion is different than yours, they are stupid. If someone is somehow benefitting you, they are brilliant. As for the post about Rickey running for office, he has already stated that he would run in this past election for county commisioner and he did not. It is easy to understand why. Our society is crumbling away and all Rickey Stokes and many more of you can focus on is bringing more destruction to this area and local families with yet another vice. Your obsession with Riley and Tyson seems somewhat psychotic, and maybe some R&R would do you good. Take a trip to Mississippi, they gamble there. Plus, if you did disappear for awhile, we could read the news and not more slanted stories like this.
markendo - Jul 30 2010 12: AM 08:12
Rickey, please keep this issue in front of the public. When is the next tea party. We all need to attend it. Government is out of hand.
cheerfuldougg - Jul 30 2010 12: AM 07:54
Couldn't agree with you more Ricky. Riley, et.al. focus on gambling is way out of perspective. Thanks for keeping this issue in front of us and giving us a balanced view.
guncolt45 - Jul 30 2010 12: AM 07:44
Rickey, you talk about the gambleing issues in Alabama, look at the atates that have it. They are no better off (money, taxes and etc.) than Alabama. You talk about the Mexicans, guns and drugs in Dothan, they are all over Panama City too!!!!! The sheriff in Bay county is doing something about it.If you start throwing blame around start at the top with the PRESIDENT!!!!
Radman57 - Jul 30 2010 12: AM 07:24
I think Riley & Tyson are the most dangerous issues facing the state of Alabama -- and that would include the oil crisis."
cindilouwho8908 - Jul 30 2010 12: AM 07:15
do you not have spell check? you're writing about not being stupid and you spell a word wrong in the ti tle. i couldn't even read the entire article because of the terrible spelling and grammar.
dalecovisitor - Jul 30 2010 12: AM 00:35
Why don't you run? I know a lot of people would vote for you, and you have the view point others are looking for. I don't think you are blinded by the material things, and I personally think you would think of the people and not yourself.
3bama7 - Jul 29 2010 12: AM 22:32
What are hankernads? Maybe you mean handgrenades? All of these are equally dangerous to this country and our state.
melfox - Jul 29 2010 12: AM 22:06
I am not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off everything and let the problem solve itself? I am just sayin!!!
lp19 - Jul 29 2010 12: AM 22:05
Its a matter of perception. From their viewpoint it is bingo, because they have bodyguards and live in gated homes with alarms insulated from those stories and events. For you and I we see the shootings, drugs and violence in our neighborhoods and towns and know that our children travel those same streets going to work and school everyday. Vote out the incumbants (of either party) and let in a fresh point of view.
shane - Jul 29 2010 12: AM 21:58
I believe you are the smart one here Rickey, Riley and Tyson are just plain stupid. Or either don't have enough common sense what so ever!
