Rickey Stokes Arrested and Bonded From Dothan City Jail.

DOTHAN: Tonight I, Rickey Stokes, turned myself into the Dothan City Jail on two arrest warrants for Unlawful Imprisonment, a Class C Misdemeanor.

The arrest warrants were signed by, from my understanding, a Johnathon Reese and Greg Tiller. Both were on bond by A - Advantage Bonding and both failed to appear in court.

Both Reese and Tiller were joined today by Racial Activist Pastor Kenny Sharpton Glassgow at the Dothan Magistrate Office. This was after media outlets were called stating that Rickey Stokes would be arrested.

The arrest comes from allegations that I, Rickey Stokes, wrapped chain around the courtroom door, and then is alleged to have handcuffed Reese and Tiller to the courtroom door in the lobby of the Dothan Police Department. Once court was in session, A - Advantage Bonding surrendered Reese and Tiller in open court to the Dothan Municipal Court.

After surrender in open court, Pastor Rev. Kenny Sharpton Glasgow and others began to ignite Reese and Tiller. Racial Activist Glasgow then attempted to turn this issue into a racial issue.

Apparently Glaqsgow was joined by Dothan Municipal Court Judge Rose Evans Gordon and Dothan City Attorney Freddie Len White.

The arrest warrants made a fast track from the Dothan Magistrate Office to the Dothan City Jail. Tonight after 6:20 PM I called and verified the arrest warrants. About 10:22 PM I turned myself into the Dothan City Jail. The only reason I waited was because Tuesday nights is church night in the Dothan City Jail and I wanted to wait until things were quiet.

The Dothan City Jail staff was extremely nice. I posted two $ 500.00 bonds and was released from the Dothan City Jail.

BONDSMAN

I firmly stand on the grounds that I am not guilty and have not violated the laws in my actions regarding the apparent bail jumping by Reese and Tiller. When you fail to appear for court at the time prescribed by the court, then you have jumped bail.

As a bondsman, it is my duty to return you to the custody of the Chief of Police or Sheriff, whichever has jurisdiction of the case, in order to clear your bail jumping.

The laws of this state give bondsman wide latitude in the apprehension and surrender of those who bail jump. Case law likens it the re-arrest of an escaped prisoner by the Sheriff.

CITY OF DOTHAN ATTORNEY FREDDIE LEN WHITE and DOTHAN MUNICIPAL COURT JUDGE ROSE EVANS GORDON

While I personally like Judge Gordon, it is the City of Dothan which has caused this issue. At Houston County, Henry County and Dale County, with multiple Judges ( Houston and Henry County - 7 Judges ), the problems do not exist like Dothan Municipal Court.

The City of Dothan Municipal Court has a high staff level and one Judge, and constant issues. Houston County Circuit Clerk Carla Woodall is staffed at 47% staffing level with 7 Judges, and it runs smooth.

The issue has been called to the attention of Dothan City Manager Mike West. The issue has not been resolved.

As a bondsman, I have the legal duty and obligation to resolve the issues of those in which A - Advantage Bonding stands bail for when they jump bail and not appear in court.

Regardless of the fact that officials with power in the City of Dothan do not like me or can not understand the fact that we deal with people.

I do not mistreat people. I do not unlawfully prison people. And in the end, you will see the real issues.
