LEE COUNTY: Last week I submitted a request to the Honorable Judge Jacob Walker for the use of a laptop computer to report the trial of Alabama Speaker of the House Mike Hubbard.
Judge Walker is the assigned Judge in Lee County to the criminal jury trials of Speaker Hubbard.
NOTE: I was critical of the Judge. A friend of mine, on FACEBOOK, defended Judge Walker.
I filed a motion pro se as an individual, not as a corporation, seeking permission for the use of a laptop in order to cover the trial of Speaker Hubbard.
In the motion, I cited to Judge Walker the Executive Branch of Alabama Government ( Governor ), the Legislative Branch ( Speaker of the House ), and the Judicial Branch ( Chief Justice of Alabama Supreme Court ), are facing impeachment issues and ethics criminal issues. All of these cases are of importance to the people of the State of Alabama, and to the integrity of the government.
The court system uses electronic filings and computers in their work. The media uses computers in their work. And the laptop computers are essential to the media to produce word documents of testimony in the case.
The court, through the Court Administrator, refused permission last week the use of laptop computers. The court said the reporters could use pen and paper.
I filed the motion ( fed ex ) to the court today as an individual. I want it a part of the official court record where the Judge refuses to allow media tool in trade to do my work in covering the trial. The use of computers are in every aspect of the system, court, law enforcement and every walk of life. And to deny the use baffles me as to any legitimate reason.
I can understand legitimate reasons for denial. But just because you wear a black robe and say no, is not a legitimate reason.
If the motion is denied, then we know it is obvious of things to hide.
