Governor Bob Riley says he decided to crack down on gambling machines when some prosecutors were unwilling to enforce gambling laws in different areas of the state.
Riley said Wednesday morning that he had a choice to make when the attorney general and some local officials were unwilling to act on gambling. He said that is what led to the creation of the Task Force on Illegal Gambling.
Riley made the comments at the Montgomery Airport shortly before leaving for Washington to join other governors in a meeting with President Barack Obama.
