Routine Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest

On February 21, 2013 at approximately 0928 hours Officers with the Marianna Police Department, observed a Chevrolet four door passenger vehicle, white in color, headed east bound on Highway 90 with the driver of the vehicle not wearing a safety belt. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and identified the driver as Joshua Edward Phillmon. While Officers were speaking with Phillmon, he appeared to be extremely nervous, and Officers could smell a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle which led to a search of the vehicle being conducted. During the search of the vehicle Officers found marijuana and cocaine inside the vehicle. Phillmon was transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.

Charges: Possession of Controlled Substance (Cocaine) Possession of Marijuana (Less than 20 Grams)
