Fort Gaines 200 will be hosting their next fundraiser, "2nd Annual Halloween at the Fort"Saturday, November 1, 2014 from 7-11 pm Eastern at Frontier Village, Fort Gaines, GA.  The event is geared towards adults 18 and older.  Live music, food, beverages, and a $100 prize for the best costume are all being served up. The local transit buses are available at no charge for groups to and from the Village. Contact 229.732.2331 to make a reservation.

"We are so excited to welcome home Bluffton native Alonzo Taylor and his Atlanta-based band", says Sheri Baker, Director of Fort Gaines 200.

Taylor, a 1995 graduate of Randolph County High School, is bringing his four-piece band to the lower level of Frontier Village in Fort Gaines, GA to help raise funds and awareness for the upcoming 2016 Bicentennial.

"It's hard to believe that a whole year has passed since our first fundraiser."  Momentum continues to grow towards the 2016 Bicentennial especially since the highly successful July 4thevent. "We have had such tremendous support from the very beginning not only from Clay County but also from all of the surrounding neighboring counties.  This includes our friends across the river. It's awesome to see such coming together to support our region that we all love and want to see prosper."

Fort Gaines 200 is a non-profit group founded to promote the 200th year anniversary of the first military outpost built on the bluff of the Chattahoochee River in downtown Fort Gaines. "Our mission is to unite the surrounding counties in a region wide effort to attract visitors and local residents to enjoy our rich heritage and natural resources. Partnering with local and regional government, privately owned businesses, civic groups and individuals has been the key to the momentum of our group." Baker continues, "When you really take a look around you, we have so many unique attractions in just a 60 mile radius that it is crazy for us not to work together to promote each other. It's a win-win."

The Fort Gaines/Clay County Recreation Department is hosting a children's "Fall Festival at the Fort" the Saturday before Halloween, October 25 from 4pm - 9pm also to be held at Frontier Village. "We are so happy that the Village is becoming more utilized by different groups.  The well known Women's Club has been the heartbeat of gatherings in Fort Gaines for many, many decades. It is our duty to preserve these vital buildings on this important historic site so that generations to come can enjoy our heritage too."
