Sheriff Department Executes Search Warrant At Local Motel

DOTHAN:    Earlier today Houston County Sheriff Deputies executed a search warrant at a local motel.


Deputies executed the search warrant on patrons who rented a room at a Dothan motel. The deputies had to break the window of the room in order to gain entry into the room.


The Sheriff Department took two people into custody following the search.


Joining the deputies on the search was the Sheriff Department Operations Commander. 👍


Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza recognizes talent. Just as Spencer Collier recognized with the Alabama Department of Law Enforcement, ALEA, recognized talent.


Collier tapped then Houston County Sheriff Andy Hughes to assist the state in the development of specialty teams. Collier recognized the talent and what Hughes could bring to the table.


When Andy Hughes retired from his position with ALEA, Sheriff Valenza recognized Hughes was not ready to fully retire. So Sheriff Valenza worked out an agreement with Hughes for him to return on a part time basis as Operations Commander.


Hughes has responsibility of patrol and vice. Along with that Hughes will work with specialty units within the department.


Today law enforcement has to be prepared for anything. They are called on for emergency situations and reacting in seconds. Things we hear of far away are now occurring close to home.


Both Valenza and Hughes recognize that. And the two men are working hand in hand to keep the department trained  and ready to roll for the protection and service of the people of this county.
