DALE COUNTY:  Dale County Sheriff Wally Olson and Alabama State Trooper Kevin Cook hold an 11 AM Press Conference with updates on the stand off.


Sheriff Olson thanked Jimmy Lee Dykes for taking care of "our"child. Sheriff Olson said they have heard the child. Sheriff Olson said they have been able to get medicine, coloring books and some toys to the child. Sheriff Olson would id not make many comments about the situation. He took some questions but none of the questions he could really answer.


Trooper Cook said because of the sensitivity of the situation they could not answer many questions. When Trooper Cook was being asked specific questions his response was he - himself had not been to the bunker. Again, because of the sensitivity of the situation not many questions would be answered.


Sheriff Olson arrived on this scene Tuesday. He has remained on this scene sleeping only a few hours in a travel trailer on the scene. Many agencies are involved in the operation. Today Montgomery Police Department is on the scene proving security on the entrance to the scene and command post.


Sheriff Olson said they have an open line of communications with Mr. Dykes. Sheriff Olson would not comment on any of Mr. Dykes demands.
