Shooting in Graceville

On Friday the 28th of October, 2016 at approximately 0530 hours, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from 5265 Cliff St in the City of Graceville in reference to a male subject being shot.
Upon officers’ arrival, it was discovered that a white male subject had been shot twice with a small caliber handgun in the yard of the residence. The suspect had fled the area and a BOLO was issued for him and the vehicle he left the scene on.
The officer on scene provided first aid to the victim until the arrival of EMS. The victim was transported to the Graceville Hospital and then on to Dothan by helicopter for treatment of a gunshot wound to the right foot and the right flank.
During this time, a member of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office spotted the suspect’s vehicle and a short vehicle chase took place. The suspect was taken into custody and placed in the Washington County Jail without further incident.
As a result of the investigation, the Graceville Police Department has obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect for the charge of Aggravated Battery with a Firearm. A hold will be placed on the suspect with the Washington County Jail.

Charge: Aggravated Battery with a Firearm
The investigation is still ongoing and further charges may be forthcoming.
