MIDLAND CITY, Alabama -- Just two years before the kidnapping of a Midland City child on Jan. 29 from his school bus, slain Dale County School bus driver Charles Albert Poland Jr. had received hostage situation training, according to an official with the Alabama Department of Education.

State Department of Education Pupil Transportation Director Joe Lightsey said Tuesday morning that Poland as well as every other school bus driver in the state received training on what to do if a person got on their bus with a gun.
