On July 20, 2012, Okaloosa County Emergency Units and a Florida Highway Patrol Trooper were dispatched to a small passenger car being hit by a train. Trooper's say the driver was attempting to turn the vehicle North onto Galliver Cutoff. The vehicle was traveling too fast on the wet roadway and missed the turn and became stuck on the train tracks just East of Galliver Cutoff. The Cavalier then became disabled on the tracks and was unable to get off in time. The driver got out of the vehicle to find help. The General Electric Train slammed into the vehicle and pushed it 66 feet until coming to a stop. Trooper's say alcohol is believed to be  a factor in this crash. The driver was charged with Speeding Too Fast for Conditions and Failure To Register Vehicle.
