DALEVILLE:   The Mayor of Daleville Alabama is a retired Lt. Colonel from the military. And I have received multiple calls from people who voted for her in Daleville UPSET about the rumor they are hearing.

I have never met the retired Lt. Colonel turned Mayor. But if this rumor is true, time for her to add to her list of retirement the Office of Mayor.

UNCONFIRMED RUMOR is, the Mayor is looking to lay off 6 Daleville Police Officers. The rumor reason is, the officers are - get this now - the officers ARE NOT writing enough tickets.

If that is true, the Mayor should be removed from office.

First, tickets are designed to CORRECT people's behavior. Tickets are not suppose to be (LAUGHTER ) revenue sources. And Mayor, you could be charged criminally if you are instructing officers to write more traffic tickets. You can not direct officers to make arrest or issue more tickets.

Now we all know Municipal Courts are not about NOT GUILTY. We all know Municipal Courts are about generating revenue. In fact, most courts are not about justice ( justice means - JUST US!). Courts are about money.

But retired Lt. Colonel turned Mayor, if it is proven you lay off the officers because they are not writing enough tickets, then you could be a guest in the Wally Olson Motel in Ozark Alabama.

AGAIN, as a hint to law enforcement officers... your job is not to put people in jail. Sometimes your job is to resolve the issue and not place people in jail.

ANDY or BARNEY

Someone explained to me recently... Andy Griffen walks out of the Sheriff Department door and looks up and down the street. He sees people walking, shopping, laughing and peaceful. Andy walks back in the office.

Barney walks out of the Sheriff Department door and looks up and down the street. Barney sees a car parked illegally and someone jay walking. Barney goes and starts writing tickets.

Andy has respect. Barney does not.

As a law enforcement officer, your task is not to always issue tickets and put people in jail. Every situation is not resolved by someone going to jail. Your job is to keep peace and order.

And that comes from a bail bondsman! Shows how stupid of a business person I am!
