A major announcement was made in Dothan tonight by SoZo group, a business advisory and technology company that is headquartered here in Dothan. They revealed that Dothan is now a Gigabit city, thanks to a partnership between the SoZo group, Troy Cable and Huawei, both key partners in moving Dothan forward.
What does this mean for the city of Dothan? That people will have access to broadband services at 1,000 megabits per second, which makes Dothan a hot spot for business.
"This gives Dothan a tremendous advantage because this puts Dothan at the forefront in economic development," said Ken Tuck, COO of SoZo. "Industries that are coming in are looking for this type of technology... they need that infrastructure because they need that type of bandwidth to operate."
Tuck said it's hard to predict how many jobs exactly this will bring, but they're expecting new companies to come in as well as current ones to expand.
Other announcements include six local non profit organizations have been picked to be supported by SoZo. SelectDothan.com, a site for business recruitment, has also been developed.
