Speaker Of House Goes After Female Lobbyist Claire Austin

MONTGOMERY: The leadership members of the Alabama Legislature have gotten more interested in getting even or destroying people than solving the issues of this state.
The Joint Rules Committee of the House and Senate is scheduled to meet Wednesday afternoon to determine whether Lobbyist Claire Austin violated the rules. The accusations stem from a meeting of the House Economic Development and Tourism Committee Meeting on April 18, 2012. A major point to be made is that the discussion between Rep. Joe Hubbard and Ms. Austin was after the committee meeting adjourned and Ms. Austin was in the back of the room with her clients.
Austin is accused of violating Rule 27 of the Joint Rules of the Alabama Legislature which covers obligations of a lobbyist. The rule says “lobbyist shall uphold the honor of the legislative process by the integrity of his or her relationship with legislators”.
Claire Austin is a single mother with three children who chose her profession as a Lobbyist. Often times politically she has been on the opposite side of the new control of the Alabama Legislature, that being Speaker of the House Mike Hubbard.
Reports are the leadership of the Alabama Legislature has gone after Austin’s clients in an effort to stop her from lobbying. This particular incident stems from an alleged complaint from Lobbyist Allison and Phillip Kinney.
The Kinney’s were on a different side of an issue than Austin. Following a heated legislative committee meeting there was an interchange reported between Austin and Representative Joe Hubbard (different than Mike Hubbard). Later Austin and Joe Hubbard talked and all issues were resolved.
Apparently, as RSN understands, the interchange was overheard by Lobbyist Allison and Phillip Kinney. Reports are the Kinney’s went to Speaker of the House Chief of Staff Josh Blades who then went to the Speaker Mike Hubbard. Hubbard talked with Representative Joe Hubbard about the interchange.
Representative Joe Hubbard said all issues were resolved and there was nothing left to discuss. However the Speaker of the House Mike Hubbard said the “train has left the station” and started the chain of events against Claire Austin.
Oh, have I mentioned the Kinney’s clients are reported to have given $ 10,000.00 “love offering” to the 2014 PAC. The PAC reported to be known as “pay to play with the grace of the Speaker”.
A simple question…some of the families affected by issues in Montgomery have told me they spoke to Speaker of the House Mike Hubbard and he was rude to them. I guess this loyalty issue is only for those in royal power and not the commoners known as voters of the State of Alabama!
Anyway, Austin is not in the Mike Hubbard groupie. She has been known to work hard for her clients and does not drink the same kool-aid as Mike Hubbard puts out. Therefore…destroy is the Montgomery game. And this group of male species known as “legislators” is working to destroy the lady making a living.
Stay tuned for Wednesday. Maybe one day this group will work as hard for the people of this state as they do their power control.
