HOUSTON COUNTY: With the recently raid of Center Stage by Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange and Houston - Henry County District Attorney Doug Valeska and the killing of over 140 jobs, it is now bringing out the lawsuits.
A group called "AL Retail Comp" has filed a lawsuit against the Houston County Economic Development Association ( HEDA ) which operates Center Stage. The suit claims HEDA owes $ 8,780.50 in claims for workmen compensation for employees.
In the Strange - Valeska raid they seized over $ 280,000.00 that Strange and Valeska are trying to seize for their spending. If law enforcement seizes the money they ( Strange and Valeska ) will decide where they can spend it. Valeska just returned from a two week trip to Panama City Florida and then a one week trip to California. Both trips paid for by the Houston - Henry County District Attorney Office.
And the Strange - Valeska court filings does not settle the final issue - are the machines legal or not.
Valeska was a Democrat office holder. He has not announced but is expected to change to the Republican party. Democrats are becoming extinct in office holders and Houston County is a strong republican county.
More lawsuits are expected since Strange and Valeska took the money.
