 Freeport, FL (October 28, 2009) –

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office is in the process of creating a state-of-the-art video, non-linear editing system to help in our continuing efforts to promote a safe and crime free environment. The equipment will “save” taxpayer dollars by allowing us to do in house production of public service announcements, and anti-crime videos. Since taking the oath of office nearly eleven-months-ago, Sheriff Adkinson has placed a high priority in keeping Walton County residents and visitors better informed of law enforcement activities.

Recently, Freeport High School media specialist, Carla Hunt, and her students in the Television Production class have worked with the Walton County Sheriff’s Office in getting out that message. Over recent years, Mrs. Hunt’s students have put together several, award-winning anti-drug videos. Mrs. Hunt says “we’re only too pleased in helping the Walton County Sheriff’s Office with its anti-crime message”.

Besides the purchase of video-editing equipment, Sheriff Adkinson says “he will continually strive in keeping the public informed through the latest advances in cyberspace technology”. Over recent months, the Sheriff’s Office has created a Facebook fan page. Facebook is a social networking website that is attracting millions of new members. It’s free to users. Sheriff Adkinson invites folks to join our growing group of friends, or fans. In addition, a Walton County Sheriff’s Office twitter account has been established to provide the public even greater access to law enforcement activities taking place.

The Facebook link is on our Sheriff’s Office Website at www.waltonso.org. The Walton County Sheriff’s Office twitter can be accessed by going to www.twitter.com. The user then needs to go to search, and type in “sheriffadkinson”.
