Subject arrested for Loitering and Prowling In Marianna

On October 23rd, 2014 at approximately 1:59am officers with the Marianna Police Department were on routine patrol in the area of Barnes Street and Swilley Street, within the city limits of Marianna. Officers observed a male subject dressed in dark clothing crouched down in the darkness beside a bush that was located next to a residence near the intersection of Swilley Street and Barnes Street. At the time the subject was observed by officers, he was looking around the residence as if he was looking for someone or something.
Officers made contact with the subject and ordered him to step out of the darkness. The subject complied and at that time officers attempted to restrain the subject. The subject engaged into a physical confrontation with officers and attempted to flee the area on foot. After the physical altercation between the subject and officers, the subject began running north. The subject was able to be subdued after the officers deployed their Taser X26 on him. The subject was taken into custody without incident following the Taser deployment. The subject was identified as Ernest Jones II who was also found to have an active warrant out of Bay County, Florida. Jones is also being charged with the above mentioned charges.
