ALABAMA:   Okay folks, this has been bugging me real bad, even to the point I have actually cried over this issue.

Moments ago Houston County Sheriff 911 dispatched Deputies and Pilcher's Ambulance to McCord Road to a S U I C I D E attempt. A female has taken an unknown amount of pills in order to take her own life.

The topic of S U I C I D E is not taboo. It is not a topic that we should avoid. It is something that leadership, school officials, church leaders, spiritual leaders, and EVERYONE that was in church on Sunday, needs to address. People are hurting and we ignore or avoid the topic.

Several weeks ago a young 17 who had stayed at my house for several nights, moved out of state with his mother. Not long after he was there, Chase took his life by hanging himself. The death of Chase threw me for a loop. The following Sunday I went to the alter at Church, broken over Chase's death.

The following Sunday I made a redication of myself to Christ. A rediciation to focus on people, their hurts and what is going on. I missed the signals with Chase. He called me about problems with his truck and where to get parts. I never stopped to think this was a 17 year old student with no job and no money. Chase' battery went dead on his truck. I never stopped to realize that Chase had no money.

I missed the signals with Chase. And ALL SUICIDES - are 100% preventable!

When the call was dispatched tonight on the S U I C I D E attempt, it reminded me again of the awesome responsibility on all people. This is not a topic we can avoid. It is not a topic we need to ignore. It is a topic that we must address.

Someone told me some school officials said after the holidays they will begin to address.  Here  is some education to the school officials - HOLIDAYS are times when people get depressed. They do not have families, do not have families that care, the holiday plans are broken because of broken families.

School officials - do not wait until after the holidays. It needs addressing now. Chase age 17, a young man from Ashford who killed himself in the cemetary, a young 14 year old in Wicksburg, and many more. DO NOT ignore the problem address it.

To the church community...you know there are 52 baptist churches in the Columbia Baptist Association, if 50 people took two times a year did a coordinated effort to Dothan - Houston County as mission field, that would mean 2,600 people hitting the streets. What could the Christian community do if a concentrated effort.

Not picking on the baptist, I just knew the approximate number of churches in the association. That 2,600 figure does not count the number of other Christian Churches.

OKAY...leaders, Tim Pitchford and whoever Segrest has selected to take over Dothan City Schools, Headland and Abbeville, Houston Adademy, Emmanuel, Ashford Academy, Providence...all of the school and church leadership...

GET OFF YOUR BUTTOCKS - somone takke charge, roll up your sleeves and start a movement.

SUICIDE is a permenant solution to a temporary problem. No matter what your issue is, SUICIDE is not the answer.

NOTE:   In my family, a murder/suicide. And later a aunt who committed suicide because she went broke before her life ended. So I am speaking from experience.

Also to the Christians, how often do you ask someone - do you beleive in GOD and where will you spend eternity?
