Suicide Attempt In Madrid

MADRID: Houston County Sheriff Deputies and Pilcher's Ambulance responded to Decatur Road in Madrid in reference to a suicide attempt. Reports were the family found a male subject hanging and had cut him down. The subject was conscious and beathing. Houston County Sheriff Lt. Randy Anderson and Sgt. Reichert responded. Other deputies were on the fire in Cottonwood.
The subject is beleived to be okay.
We do not normally publish suicides or suicide attempts unless committed in a public place. While we have not specified the exact location there is a reason for pubishing this attempt.
This week the Houston County Commission declared this week as Suicide Awareness Week. Please be diligent on watching those dperessed. Please be aggressive in seeking treatment and be proactive.
It is one of the hardest things to do to have your loved one committed to Behavioral Medicine or to take aggressive measures to make sure that depression is dealt with. However, be aggressive, take the steps needed to make sure that suicide is prevented.
