Suicide In Wicksburg

HOUSTON COUNTY:     Houston County SHeriff Department and Houston County Coroner Office worked a gunshot death of a 14 year old young man.

The death was on Powerdam Road in the Wicksburg area. It was a self inflicted gunshot wound.

From my understanding there was not any known issues or problems. From my understanding there were no warning signs or indications.

We are very sad for the family and ask everyone to keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

NOTE:

In the past it has been the policy of RSN not to cover suicide deaths unless in a public place. In my personal life I have had a murder - suicide and a suicide death. In my professional life as Coroner and Deputy Coroner, I have walked with many families who have suffered loss with suicide.

The posting is not meant to add hurt to families. The posting is to make the public aware  the problem is very real. That we do not know or what people are going through and thinking. And often times, as I understand in this situation, no warning signs.

As I listen to the public safety radios, I hear the increasing number of calls of suicide threats, attempts and some of those that are successful. The number just this year has already doubled since last year.

The self inflicted deaths and attempts are real. And the posting is only because I want to make sure the public is aware. And that we all take time to listen and love.

The parents of this young man are fine people, as I understand and are searching for answers because there were no signs or apparent reason.

To the parents and family, the community wraps their arms around you and know that, people you do not even know are praying for you.

To ANYONE with troubles, PAUSE...look up and talk to GOD, listening for answers. Also seek persons of WISDOM...do not hesitate, talk to someone with WISDOM for guidance. There is always answers to problems with solutions if you are willing to  listen.
