Suit challenging bail bond fees still alive

A judge Friday dismissed a lawsuit challenging a state law assessing fees for bail bonds, but the plaintiffs hope a second lawsuit fares better.


 


Presiding Circuit Court Judge Charles Price ruled that the original lawsuit improperly named Gov. Robert Bentley as the sole defendant.


 


A second lawsuit already has been filed, but Judge William Shashy declined to rule on it Friday. Judge Tracy McCooey will take up the case Aug. 6.
