Summer is refrigerator failure season... Here are refrigerator repair issues ranked in order of occurrence

The number one repair issue we see for a home refrigerator is the refrigerator section is warm and the freezer section is cold. You may wake up one day and it's 70 degrees inside the fridge and the butter is soft and the milk is bad but your freezer is nice and cold just like it should be.

The second highest ranking issue with refrigerators is leaking water and/or ice-frost buildup in the freezer or refrigerator.

Third on our list of refrigerator repair issues is a fridge and freezer that becomes warmer, the compressor runs all the time and the outside walls of the refrigerator may even become very hot.

In all seriousness, if you have to have a refrigerator issue, these issues above are actually good problems because these indicate that the heart of the refrigerator cooling system is working.

The fourth most frequent issue is a refrigerator that will not cool at all. This does not always mean that the refrigerator is totally worthless. There are three very simple reasons a fridge may not cool at all and many times these refrigerators can be brought back to life affordably and quickly.

In fact as many as 50% of discarded fridges that are kicked to the curb could be repaired for a quarter to a third of the price of a new fridge!

Finally, an inoperable ice maker is number five on our list of fridge repair issues.

Most fridge repairs can be done in an hour or so on the same day. Be prepared to empty the refrigerator and/or freezer before the technician arrives and have some towels ready to clean up some melting ice.
