HOUSTON COUNTY: Since 7 AM this morning Dothan Fire Chief Larry Williams and members of Dothan Fire have had their Emergency Operations Center open and operating.
Dothan Fire has a room in the Administrative Building that is the "war room". It is set up with computers, phones and radios, and with dry eraser boards. When major emergencies exist or the threat, the administrative team assembles in the room. They manage resources and fire equipment for the emergency operation.
Since the occurance, Dothan Fire Chief Larry Williams dispatched the Dothan Fire Technical Rescue/Search Team vehicles to Cottonwood. Dothan Fire is assisting Cottonwood Fire with command and operations in Cottonwood.
Along with Dothan Fire, multiple volunteer fire units are assisting. Madrid Fire, Southern Junction, Hodgesville, Rehobeth, Taylor and others.
Dothan - Houston County Emergency Management is also operating in the office and in the field.
Houston County Sheriff Department, Cottonwood Police and other law enforcement agencies are assisting.
All team work.
In Ashford, Pansey, Gordon and Lovetown, the volunteer fire agencies are taking care of their people. A lot of volunteers on the ground working.
Cottonwood Rescue, Ashford Rescue and Pilcher's Ambulance working and assisting.
