DOTHAN:    THANKS to Dothan Mayor Mike Schmitz for all of his hard work and time spent in the pursuit of the China Connection in business for Dothan.


Mayor Schmitz hates to fly. Literally, he hates to fly. But Mayor Schmitz sucked it up and flew to China several times in pursuit of jobs for Dothan.


Some may or may not know, but the $ 42,000.00 salary paid to the Mayor. Mike and Sandy Schmitz made the decision to not draw that salary and place it in a industry recruitment account to pursue business for Dothan.


Therefore Mike Schmitz does not draw a salary for Mayor and furnishes his own personal vehicle for use as Mayor.


Many of the trips that Mike Schmitz made to and from China were at his own personal expense and not billed to the City of Dothan. Some were billed to Dothan but a lot were at his own personal expense.


Offices were secured for the economic arm of the China connection in Dothan.


But the China connection made decisions to move to Mobile recently. 


In business you win some and lose some. Mayor Mike Schmitz believes some great connections were made for Dothan in the trips to China. And some will pay dividends.


To Mike Schmitz personally and professionally in his capacity as Mayor of the City of Dothan, THANK YOU for all of your efforts and hard work for Dothan. We appreciate your love and desire for Dothan and all the hard work you to to make things happen.


Also THANKS to Sandy Schmitz. You have sacrificed a lot of personal time with your husband as he serves the citizens of Dothan as Mayor. While you are often in the background, THANK YOU for allowing Dothan to have Mike’s time and energy devoted to Dothan.


THANKS to Mike’s partner Paul Padget. You keep Mike Schmitz Automotive Group working and serving in Mercedes, Hyundai and Mazda. Paul takes a lot of day to day business pressure from Mike Schmitz and allows him to serve Dothan.
