DOTHAN:      This past week the young man that was in the accident on Third Avenue and Saunders Road several weeks ago had talked with me about getting from Gainesville Florida to Slocomb.

The injured’s name is Josh Woods. He was airlifted from Dothan to Gainesville Florida following the accident. Josh received extensive injuries to include a broken pelvis, broken ankle and more.

The insurance would not pay for ambulance transportation from Gainesville to Slocomb. He can not walk. He had been sitting up some in a wheelchair so he did not have to be ambulatory for the entire ride.

I am bad on checking text messages. He sent me one Thursday morning that he was going to be released from the hospital on Friday.

Toyota of Dothan had no rental vans. I wanted one with middle bucket seats so that he could lay back on the ride.

When I called the Sales Manager of Toyota of Dothan and explained the situation, Paul Scarbrough did not hesitate in finding me a used Toyota van for the trip.

Matt Boster who serves as Southern Junction Volunteer Fire and also works with Rickey Stokes News and a friend took the trip to Gainesville. The hospital gave Josh pain medications before leaving and they made the trip from Gainesville to Slocomb.

Josh has pins all in his pelvis. So Matt knew he needed help in getting Josh from the van inside the house. He called Slocomb Fire - Rescue and asked could they meet at his house and assist. Slocomb Fire - Rescue sent the ambulance and fire truck to help.

A very special THANK YOU to Toyota of Dothan and Paul Scarbrough for their willingness to help a young man. His life suddenly changed that Saturday when the crash occurred. He was trapped in the vehicle and required extrication. Then flown from Dothan to Gainesville.

He has a long and winding road to recovery from the extensive injuries. The impact was directly into the driver’s door.

Also a special THANK YOU to Matt and the one who went with him to get Josh home. His girlfriend Ashley, who was also injured and remains on crutches, was anxiously awaiting his arrival home.

A special THANK YOU to Slocomb Fire - Rescue for assisting Matt in getting Josh inside and situated home.
