DOTHAN – Only seventeen sponsorship opportunities remain on the "Adopt-A-Mural" Campaign list after three local businesses pledge three year commitments. Local businesses, Mark Dunning Industries, Mike Schmitz Automotive Group and Steamboat Custom Homes will be sponsoring the Fort Scott Mural, the Tribute to Sherman Rose & the Tuskegee Airmen Mural and the Steamboat Era Mural, respectively.
The Murals of the Wiregrass launched its “Adopt-A-Mural” campaign in August 2015 in an effort to ensure the preservation of its murals in the Dothan and wider Wiregrass Area. An ongoing initiative, the campaign requires a three year commitment from all sponsors. Throughout the years, the Murals of the Wiregrass has facilitated the implementation of new murals in the Wiregrass area. Not only has the organization commissioned and funded the art but, with assistance from various benefactors, the organization has also provided regularly scheduled maintenance on all of the murals within the inventory.
Interested persons wishing to patronize the Adopt-A-Mural campaign are asked to contact Payne Henderson, Murals of the Wiregrass President for an application.
