MONTGOMERY: United States Federal Judge Myron Thompson issued a memorandum opinion concerning campaign donations and bribes.
Thompson said the issue needs to be clarified. Two defendants, Richard Scrushy and Don Sielgelman were convicted of bribes by a jury when it was said to be campaign donations for the lottery. Then other defendants were found not guilty of allegations of accepting bribes when it was campaign donations.
Judge Thompson said the issue needed clarification.
Before the Judge was several motions that he had not ruled on. Some of the motions were filed under seal. The Judge has taken the not guilty verdicts as a way out to keep from ruling on the motions. He needs to unseal the motions so they can be made available for the public to see. We might be surprised.
