The Dothan-Houston County Rotary Club is pleased to announce the allocation of funds to area non-profits in order to assist organizations which are striving to help area citizens, animals, and improve quality of life in the Wiregrass. On Tuesday, September 25th during the Club’s weekly noon meeting at the Dothan Country Club, $19,360 will be presented to five Wiregrass area non-profit organizations.
Boys & Girls Club Home of Dothan will receive an allocation for a new HVAC unit. Currently the home has an entire wing of their building which cannot be used due to the lack of a functioning HVAC unit.
Wiregrass Hope Group will receive funds to be used for the replacement of flooring in the hallways, lobbies, and reception areas of the Center.
Wiregrass Children’s Home will receive an allocation to assist in upgrading playground equipment to replace severely worn equipment.
Wiregrass Spay Neuter Alliance will be assisted in purchasing two new washing machines and one new dryer, as in efforts to keep cost low, WSNA does not use disposable items, therefore, there is an extensive amount of laundry to perform daily.
Downtown Group will receive an allocation toward the purchase of a laptop computer which will be used to prepare marketing materials and market downtown Dothan through the web and social media.
Each year, the Club’s allocation committee reviews applications submitted from area non-profits, which have the sponsorship of a Dothan-Houston County Rotary Club member, in order to allocate funds to the various worthwhile causes of these organizations.
One member from each non-profit organization will be in attendance at the September 25th meeting to accept the charitable gift from the Club. In addition to the presentation of funds to area non-profits, Rotary International District 6880 Governor Jim Golson will be the featured speaker at the meeting.
Media representatives are invited to attend the meeting and photo opportunities will be available. Lunch will be provided to all media members at no cost.
