DALE COUNTY: Members of the Echo Fire Rescue held an open house and Dedication Ceremony to celebrate the completion of their station located on Hwy 27. The Echo Fire Department was established in 1985 and is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the department.

The building was dedicated in honor of James E. (Gene) Ward the first Fire Chief and his son James E. (Jimmy) Ward Jr. The dedication was emotional for everyone in attendance.

The community was in attendance and showed their support for the department. They served lunch and had inflatables for the kids as well as the equipment on display.

The Wiregrass RC & D presented the department with two checks totaling $37,000.00. Echo Fire Chief Eric Blankenship also announced the lowering of the ISO rating from a 7/9 to a 6/6X or a 6/9 and the rating should take effect around the first of September. This is no easy task for any department.

Dignitaries and special guest included:

Dale County Fire Assoc President Wes Ethridge

Dale County Commissioners: Doug Williamson, Steve McKinnon, Chick Gary and Wes Strickland.

Dale County EMS President Rhonda Peters

Revenue Commissioner Elanor Outlaw

Dale County Sheriff Wally Olson
