Today, 34 Central dispatched Samson Police Officers to intercept an 18 wheeler that gassed up in Elba and did not pay for his fuel. The person who drove off, did not know that a worker from the store followed him all the way to Samson. The employee called 34 Central and advised them the situation and advised them they were coming through Piney Grove.
Officers were in place and ready when the vehicle came by the Samson Elementary School. Investigator Jimmy Hill with the Samson Police Department initiated the traffic stop. It was stated over the radio that the driver of the truck had over a $200.00 bill. After further investigation, Samson Police Investigator Hill let the driver go and advised him that he needed to go back and pay the store.
They could always follow you if you drive off. Even though this was a mistake, some people do it on purpose. Don't think that around here you will not get caught. There are several Public Safety Workers (i.e. Firefighters, EMT's, Paramedics, City Workers, etc.) That could have a radio that monitors the police channel. Don't think one of them would not turn you in if they saw your vehicle.
