Overview: A cold front moving southward across the region will be the focus for strong to severe thunderstorms Friday afternoon through Friday night. The greatest threat for severe thunderstorms will exist across our southern Georgia and northeastern counties of the Florida panhandle, as outlined by the attached graphic. However, there is the potential for severe thunderstorms across the entire area.
Main Threats: • Isolated to scattered damaging wind gusts • Frequent lightning Main Impacts: • Downed trees and tree limbs • Power outages due to downed power lines or lightning strikes Timing and Location: Thunderstorms will impact southeastern Alabama and southern Georgia counties late Friday afternoon, with the threat shifting southward into the Florida panhandle by Friday evening/night. Given the nature of the forecast, confidence in exact timing of these storms remains low at this time.
