Three Henry County School Board Members Think Local Attorneys Are To Dumb To Represent

HENRY COUNTY:  Three Henry County School Board Members - Doretha Culver, Mary Wiggins and Jean Bush have no confidence in local attorneys to represent the citizens of Henry County in their school board.


The board considered two persons to represent the school board on Thursday. One was Alicia Bennett and the other was Kay Smith Campbell.


Bennett is from Birmingham and Campbell was from Tuskegee.


Bennett's rate is $ 175.00 per hour. She was only going to charge the citizens of Henry County $ 100 per hour travel time from Birmingham to Abbeville. That would be $ 800.00 travel time, then $ 175.00 per hour while meeting with the school board.


Campbell is from Tuskegee. There was never a real clear answer as to her charges.


What was clear, Board Members Culver, Bush and Wiggins voted to hire this "out of town" attorney, WITHOUT a contract as to the amount for services on record and a contract detailing the services.


What was clear, Board Members John Cameron and Eddie Chambers Attempted to do the right thing. Cameron and Chambers asked for the issue to be tabled and to enter into an agreement the right way.


But the trio refused.


WHEN ASKED about the local attorneys in this area, it was clear the board needed to be educated. They have no clue in what they are doing and employing an attorney.


The Board has had local counsel for decades and they have done a great job. But Board Members Culver, Bush and Wiggins could care less about local.


From Observation, the people of Henry County, more importantly the children of Henry County are in danger with Culver, Wiggins and Bush on the School Board.


What is more amazing, Bush seems to be a smart lady who is being led around like an 'ol stray hound dog by Culver and Wiggins. What this lady is thinking is beyond me. She seems intelligent, but her actions in following the other two, well it is beyond me.
