Tim Pitchford - It Makes No Sense

HOUSTON COUNTY:    TIM PITCHFORD - It makes no sense.


The Houston County School Bus Drivers left school buses on campus and bus pooled one bus to drop drivers off. In the afternoon that bus would pick the drivers up and return to the campus. At the end of the day the drivers drove the buses home.


Pitchford is getting ready to retire. He turned the issue over to the Principals. You know the ones who can teach but not run a multi million dollar operation! They decided to STOP the bus pool system.


That means bus drivers had to figure a way home or leave their personal vehicle at campus all night. That is because they drive the bus home at night. That would leave the driver with no personal vehicle at home and subect their personal vehicle to vandalism at the school.


This has caused a problem for the bus drivers. They are not paid like Pitchford!


The system worked good. It has caused a problem for the bus drivers. A problem Pitchford, if he would be a Superintendent, could fix. But he refuses!


JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN TEACH


To be a Principal or Superintendent does not mean that you can run a multi-million dollar operation. Just because you can teach does not mean you can be a transportation specialist.


I had a prisoner transport business. We transported over 700 prisoners in one year from Miami to California. I lost over $ 20,000.00 in one year. My problem was, I was not a transportation specilaist. I needed someone who knew transportation.


Same goes for the school system. Just because you can teach a class does not mean you can run a multi million dollar operation.


Perhaps one of the problems with education is, a business person needs to run the school system. Your number 2 person could be an educator. 


The same goes with the decisions made on transportation and the Houston County School sysrtem bus issues.
