DOTHAN: Today I ate lunch at Blue Plate South. As I went in I saw Kim Tate and Janet Thigpen sitting with a young man eating lunch.
After a minute I walked over asking if this was the young man in the accident. It was and they introduced me to Janet and Brian Thigpen’s son, Tyler.
In August 2011 Tyler was involved in an accident in Cottonwood. He and a motor vehicle had a accident, Tyler was on a dirt bike.
The accident was dispatched as a serious injury accident. Tyler was seriously injured. He was transported, trauma alert, to SAMC.
There was an immediate call to action, a action that I believe in very much.
Brian and Janet Thigpen are active members of Bethel Baptist Church. They very much believe in prayer and the power of prayer. I know this first hand because of a prior situation I was involved with where Brian and Janet lifted the matter to prayer.
Friends, fellow Bethel Baptist Church members, people Brian, Janet and Tyler did not even know, specifically prayed for Tyler.
Tyler went into the Intensive Care Unit of SAMC where he stayed for a week, then to a room for about a week. Tyler then went to HealthSouth for a several week stay.
Today, I was able to meet this young man. The last time I saw him was in an ambulance moments before they rushed him to the hospital. Later I saw his family in the emergency room following the accident. Hearing the stories where they were not sure if he was going to live or not.
In the words of Bethel Baptist Church Pastor, Rev. Ricky Plummer, “Tyler is certainly an answer to prayer”.
And today, it made my day a better day, no a terrific day, to see Tyler Thigpen sitting in Blue Plate eating lunch with his mother and aunt. He has some life time injuries, some issues with his hand, a leg now shorter than the other, but he is a handsome young man, that is blessed that GOD has given him a second chance. Tyler is an answer to prayers lifted up specifically for him.
Tyler still has a distance to travel. He will make it.
Does GOD always answer the prayers lifted up? Always, GOD answers the prayers. But the answer might not be what we asked for. He answers those prayers, but they are answered in HIS will. The reasons things happen can not explained, but that is where trust in GOD comes in.
One thing I can say, with all honesty and 100% certainty, prayer works and I believe in prayer.
