On 11-14-2009, officers from the Marianna Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a 1993 Grey GMC truck at the intersection of Guyton Street and Kelson Avenue. At the time of the traffic offense, the vehicle was observed to be occupied by a male driver and female passenger. Upon stopping the vehicle, it was observed the occupants had switched places.
The occupants were identified as Anthony Curtis York of 2307 Jupiter Road, Alford, and Stacy Hall York of 3402 #3 Transmitter Road, Panama City. A computer check through DHSMV was completed and it was determined Mr. York had a suspended license and was a habitual traffic offender. Mr. York was placed under arrest for driving while license suspended.
A consent to a search of the vehicle was then granted by Mrs. York, who was the registered owner, while she was awaiting a ride to come pick her and the vehicle up. A search of the vehicle was conducted and found in the cab of the truck was a metal box containing drug paraphernalia (smoking devices), marijuana, and methamphetamine. Also found in the cab was a small mesh bag containing additional marijuana, smoking devices and paraphernalia. Found in a camera bag was a set of digital scales. Found inside a metal box in the bed of the truck was chemicals and materials used in the manufacture of methamphetamine. Found in a tool box were three firearms. Mrs. York was placed under arrest at this time.
Mr. York was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance (methamphetamine), Unlawful possession of listed chemicals, Driving While License Revoked (Habitual Offender), Possession of Marijuana Less Than 20 grams, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Mrs. York was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance (methamphetamine), Unlawful possession of listed chemicals, Possession of Marijuana Less than 20 grams, Possession of drug paraphernalia, and permitting unauthorized operator to drive.
Both subjects were transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility.
