Traffic Stop Lands a Marianna Man in Jail on Multiple Charges

MARIANNA: On February 15th 2013 at approx. 4:00 a.m. officers with the Marianna Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a white Toyota SUV on Bumpnose Rd., for the traffic infraction of Attaching unassigned tag. Contact was made with the driver who was identified as Dennis Wayne Edwards, during the traffic stop officers discovered Edwards was on probation with special conditions to include a curfew as well as submit to search. During a search of Edwards vehicle a small container was recovered from the vehicle which contained a methamphetamine residue. Edwards was arrested and transported to the Marianna Police Department for processing. While at the Marianna Police Department, Edwards was found to be in possession of Prescription pills which he was attempting to conceal from officers. Edwards is charged with the above listed charges and was transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility where he will await first appearance.

Charges: Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine)
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Felony)
Possession of Prescription Pills w/o a Prescription
Violation of Probation
