Traffic Stop Leads to a Large Drug Bust in Marianna

On 28, March 2013 officers with the Marianna Police Department responded to a traffic stop on Old Cottondale Road where Sheriff Roberts had a vehicle stopped regarding an incident that occurred in the county. Once on scene, officers talked with Terrance Turner about the incident in the county. Sheriff Roberts requested consent to search Turner’s vehicle and Turned stated no. K-9 Sergeant was summoned to the traffic stop and asked to deploy the narcotics K-9. K-9 Jyro was deployed to conduct a free air sniff of the vehicle. K-9 Jyro gave a distinct behavior change followed by sitting constituting an alert for the odor of a narcotic within the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted and .2g of crack cocaine valued at $80.00 was discovered hidden behind the glove box inside the vehicle. Terrance Merkeith Turner was arrested and transported to the Jackson County Jail Facility where he will be held awaiting first appearance.
