On August 28, 2016, at approximately 0157 hrs, a Jackson County Sheriff's Deputy observed a Ford Truck traveling north on Penn Avenue with a faulty headlight. The Deputy initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, which stopped near the Jackson County Schools Bus Barn.
When the Deputy approached the vehicle, he observed an open container of an alcoholic beverage under the seat. The Deputy then made contact with the driver and passenger, Roy Allan Hall. Hall was observed making several furtive movements near the passenger side door. An additional Sheriff's Deputy arrived a few moments later to assist with the traffic stop.
Deputies asked the subjects to exit the vehicle for officer safety purposes, due to the suspicious behavior and movements. While the subjects exited the vehicle, Deputies observed a void in the interior of the passenger side door, containing plastic “baggies” with a crystal like substance inside. The “baggies” were in plain view and the contents were recognized by the Deputies, due to their training and experience, as “Methamphetamine / Ice”.
The items were retrieved from door panel and consisted of a cellophane cigarette wrapper, a small jewelers bag and small plastic container, all containing suspected methamphetamine. The void the items were located was created by the door panel having a hole cut into it, under the door handle. A field test was performed on the suspected methamphetamine and indicated a positive result.
Hall was subsequently placed under arrest, for F.S. 893.13 Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) and F.S. 893.147 Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Hall was transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to be housed until First Appearance without further incident.
