Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest in Marianna

On July 10th, 2012 at approximately 9:42 p.m., officers with the Marianna Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Milton Avenue, on a red in color, Chevrolet truck. Upon conducting the stop for the traffic infraction of inoperable tag lights, contact was made with the driver of the vehicle, Earl Blackwell II. During the traffic stop, officers were able to gain consent to search Blackwell’s vehicle. During a search of the vehicle officers were able to locate 7 Hydrocodone tablets in the ashtray. Earl Blackwell was arrested and is being charged with the above listed charges. Earl Blackwell was transported to the Marianna Police Department for processing and later taken to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
