On Friday, February 27, 2015, Investigators with the Jackson County Drug Task Force conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for committing a traffic infraction. The traffic stop was conducted on Highway 71 North, near Mt. Tabor Road just south of Greenwood, Florida. During the course of the traffic stop the driver attempted to drive away, when an Investigator approached the vehicle. Investigators were able to block the vehicle’s path with their vehicles.
Upon blocking the attempted fleeing vehicle’s path, the passenger of the vehicle exited and began to flee on foot. Investigators pursued the fleeing passenger and apprehended the subject just inside a wood line south of the initial traffic stop location. A search of this subject produced the finding of a loaded 9 millimeter caliber pistol in the subject’s pocket. Also located on the ground where the subject was apprehended was a cigar pack that contained 43 individual jewelry bags containing a white substance and $40.00 U.S. Currency. A field test of the white substance from one of the 43 bags indicated favorable for the presence of cocaine.
The fleeing subject was identified to be Willie J. Wilson of Tallahassee, Florida. Upon a check of Wilson’s criminal history, numerous felony convictions were confirmed. Wilson was transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await First Appearance.
The driver of the vehicle, identified to be Michael E. Allen of Marianna, was also transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await First Appearance.
