Dothan: Over 1,000 area high school students will descend upon Wallace Community College – Dothan on March 6 for the 33rd Annual Wallace Community College Tri-State Math and Computer Science Olympiad. Students from Alabama, Georgia, and Florida will compete head-to-head in Pre-algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Advanced Math, Comprehensive, Computer Literacy, Microcomputer Applications and Team Competitions. There are three divisions (A, B, and C) in each category of competition.

Students attending the Olympiad not only have the honor of being chosen to represent their school, but will compete for a scholarship in each division of the Comprehensive Exam.

The theme for this year’s Olympiad is Mathematics and Computer Science: Building for the Future—One Student at a Time. The theme reflects on the investment in education, built student by student, course by course, that will lay the foundation for future success. Likewise, theGreat Pyramid of Giza, one of the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, remains largely intact. They were built stone by stone, and it was many generations later before the finished structures were admired and marveled at for their achievement. The Olympiad celebrates more than mathematics and computer science. It also highlights the life instructions that students are taught by dedicated instructors.
