TROY – On Monday, November 16, 2009, at approximately 1:38 pm, an Alabama state trooper’s patrol car was struck while he was attempting to make a traffic stop on U.S 231 northbound at the 62.5 mile marker in Pike County. The trooper was attempting to turn his marked patrol unit around with his blue lights activated when a Dodge pick-up, that was traveling north, struck the patrol vehicle. All parties involved were taken to the Troy Regional Medical Center where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries. The trooper’s patrol car and the pick-up truck sustained heavy damage. The cause of the accident is still under investigation by the Alabama State Troopers.
