Troy murder suspect captured getting off bus in California

TROY, AL (WSFA) - Troy Police are confirming that the suspect in a weekend homicide was taken into custody several thousand miles away Monday evening.

Suroy Manquel Wheeler was taken into custody in Oxnard, CA by Oxnard Police around 5pm Central.

Chief Jimmy Ennis said he received information from Pike County Sheriff Russell Thomas that Wheeler was possibly in California. He advised that Wheeler was supposed to be at the Norwalk bus terminal in Los Angeles. He was trying to get to Oxnard, CA .

Troy Police Detectives coordinated efforts with the US Marshals Service and the Oxnard Police Department.
