Truck Collides with Train in Bonifay

A few minutes before midnight on March 8, 2017, the Bonifay Police Department responded to a report of a crash on Waukesha Street (SR 79) at the railroad crossing. Officers determined that a 2014 Ram pickup driven by Ronald John Small collided with the train.
Ronald John Small age 71, of Vernon, FL had disregarded the southbound lane crossing arm and was struck by a westbound locomotive. The Ram pickup was heavily damaged, but no injuries were reported. Waukesha Street and other crossings remained blocked by the train for several hours. The crash is still under investigation and charge(s) are pending.
