ENTERPRISE:   You know it is difficult. When someone asks you for something and you do it, but they keep moving that line, and moving that line, and moving that line. And you never, ever, ever meet their line.

That is what has happen to the City of Enterprise in dealing with Turner Townsend of Townsend Building Materials and his 501(c)(4) corporations of "Take Back Enterprise" and now "Everyone’s Enterprise".

NOTE:   Turner’s "Take Back Enterprise" and "Everyone’s Enterprise" are 501(c)(4) corporations. They do not have transparency, they do not identify their donors, they do not identify their expenditures. They are the identical ( twin type corporations ) that paid the mistress of Alabama Governor Robert Bentley, Rebekah Mason. Townsend denies they are using money for any flawed purposes like Governor Bentley, but we do not know what he is using the money for. Just like we did not know what Governor Bentley was doing, until he wanted Wanda’s desk moved and the doors locked for he and Rebekah.

TAKE BACK ENTERPRISE   501(C)(4) DARK MONEY CORPORATION 

Turner Townsend was "Take Back Enterprise". He made requests to the Council and Mayor of Enterprise for information. He got information. He asked for things to be added to the web site for the City of Enterprise. His request was granted.

But Turner Townsend was not getting any traction to people following his movement. So he abandoned Take Back Enterprise, this 501(C)(4) dark money corporation.

EVERYONE’S ENTERPRISE    A new 501(C)(4)  DARK MONEY CORPORATION  

When no one was really following Turner Townsend’s first dark money corporation, he started a new one called Everyone’s Enterprise.

A shell game of Turner Townsend, demand transparency from the City of Enterprise, but keep his 501(c)(4) quiet, hidden. Turner Townsend does not disclose his donors, his expenditures, and his hidden agenda.

Just exactly like Alabama Governor Robert Bentley did not disclose his AceGov 501(C)(4) dark money corporation. We now know what Governor Bentley was doing, using his dark money 501(c)(4) to pay his mistress, Rebekah Mason.

TURNER TOWNSEND INTRODUCED BY SUE NUWINE TO SPEAK TO COFFEE COUNTY WOMEN REPUBLICAN’S

This past week I listened to Turner speak to the Republican Women’s Group. When he was introduced by Sue Nuwine, I knew there was a set up going on. You see Nuwine is a large contributor and a large player in the Republican camp, local and Montgomery politics. She has even come to Houston County trying to control who is in and out of the elite club.

During Turner Townsend’s presentation, he presented a slide that read as follows:

Everyone’s Enterprise is a movement to improve government by making it more transparent, participatory, and collaborative. Everyone’s Enterprise will help build the public’s trust and satisfaction in government, will improve government’s delivery of services, and will create new opportunities for innovation. 

TRANSPARENCY:  To increase accountability, promote informed public participation, and create economic development opportunities, the city shall expand access to information.

PARTICIPATION:  To create informed and effective policies, the city shall enhance and expand opportunities for the public to participate throughout the decision making process.

COLLABORATION:   To more effectively fulfill it’s obligations to citizens the city shall enhance and expand its practices of cooperation among city departments, governmental boards, other governments, the public, and non - profit and private organizations.

CULTURE OF OPENESS:  Furthermore, the city should develop a legal framework to grow a culture of open government and should seek feedback about the effectiveness of its open government efforts. The Council and Mayor should commit to working with city officials, departments, governmental boards, and the public to implement open government in Enterprise.

IMPROVEMENTS

Mr. Townsend stated in the presentation, the Mayor, Councilman and City of Enterprise officials have improved:  (1) Council Meetings are now online on You Tube (2) More minutes of council meetings and work sessions are available online. (3) Summary budget information is online (4) Ballotpedia grade improvement.

Mr. Townsend said that Ballotpedia had once graded the City of Enterprise at a D for openness. But Townsend said with all of the improvements and openness, Ballotpedia now has graded the City of Enterprise at a B. 

The grade improvement, from the organization Mr. Townsend identified, means the Council, Mayor and staff have worked to make the public’s access easier and more informative.

PUZZLING

As I have watched the City of Enterprise, Mr. Turner Townsend, his 501(c)(4) dark money corporations, I have scratched my head. You want openness and transparency, but you yourself want a closed dark money corporation. That is hypocritical!

As I have watched and listened to the questions, the Council, Mayor and City of Enterprise staff have opened up and provided information. They have improved their data  on line. And the meetings are on You Tube. That means you can fast forward the boring stuff!

But here is what is puzzling. The City of Enterprise Council and Mayor have brought JOBS. They have expanded business and brought JOBS. A man in Dothan called me that his house was getting flooded recently. Never met the man until I went over and the ditches flooding. He lives in Dothan and drives to Enterprise to work.

Not once has Turner Townsend complained to the Enterprise Council and Mayor, you are not bringing jobs, you are not providing police protection, you are not providing fire protection, the parks are bad, the sewers are bad. Not once has he complained about the school system, the Enterprise staff.

He has complained about data online, not giving him spreadsheets, minutes of meetings online are only available back to 2008.

Not once has Turner Townsend complained that Enterprise is not being a "City of Progress".

Turner’s complaint, you are  not asking me before you make decisions.

There is a motive to Turner Townsend. And time will identify that motive. Just as there was a motive with Robert Bentley when he started his 501(C)(4) dark money corporation.

NOTE:  

Following the speech of Turner Townsend on Thursday, Enterprise Mayor Kenneth Boswell held a press briefing and answered each and every allegation thrown out there by Mr. Townsend.

I waited to see if the other media agreed with me on my assessment of Mr. Townsend's speech and allegations. After reading the reports, I think all were in agreement, there is a dark money motive of his two dark money secret corporations.
