TUSCALOOSA: The October gang rape of a 22-year-old Shelton State student made headlines, but Tuscaloosa area law enforcement say the victim is just one of many falling prey to the dangers of Xanax.
Four men – three of them University of Alabama students – were charged with rape last month after the woman was found unconscious in a Tuscaloosa apartment. Police said all four men had sex with her while she was unconscious after drinking a combination of fruit punch and Xanax.
"She woke up at the hospital and doesn't recall anything,'' Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Capt. Gary Hood said at the time of the incident.
