CARROLLTON, Ky. (AP) - A school bus overturned on a narrow country road in northern Kentucky Monday, killing two pre-school-aged children, state police said.
Trooper Brad Arterburn said the bus carrying nine children was headed home from the pre-school program Head Start and flipped onto its side and struck a tree. He said four children were taken to hospitals and three were released to their parents.
The driver of the bus escaped unharmed. An adult aide was taken to the hospital, but Arterburn did not know the person's condition not that of the other children.
The bus overturned about 4:30 p.m. on Boone Road in Carrollton. Arterburn said investigators do now know why it flipped or if any other vehicle was involved.
"It's a small country road, narrow country road," he said. "No lines, no center line on it. Right now we don't know what made the bus go out of control."
